Goodbye Student Loans

And as of October 27, 2005 @ 2:58 PM I am now officially student-loan free. For some reason it took me 1651 days since I wrote my last exam to finally pay out 2 large sum payments to CIBC and I'm done.

Pictures from Summer Vacation

Here are a some photos from our summer vacation.

Barbara and Travis Go to Nova Scotia

I said... this a stick up. Put your flithy hands up ...

With the recent change in blog addresses, I've been reconsidering my interest in blogging, its purpose and wondering if I should bother continuing to post in blogs. As with anything, if I'm going to do something, I really want to do it well. Nothing drives me more crazy than doing something half-assed. So... why blog? Here are some reasons I've come up with and that I've been taking into consideration when deciding on how to go forth. After about four years of blogging (not that I'm some sort of veteran), I've been able to make some observations finally.
  • Blogging is an outlet, sometimes is more of an outlet than others. Moreso when times are challenging and shit is going bad and no single person would want to hear all of your shit and complaints.
  • Blogging can serve as a way of looking back in the past and noting what you did or were thinking back at that point in time. Like how 3 years ago today I was just settling back after returning from my grandmother's funeral and how I still think that these are some of the best photos I've ever shot.
  • Blogging can serve as a means of income. Granted the Internet is saturated with blogs and blogs that I've created have received minimal traffic, even with all of my SEO know-how. I guess it comes down to, in order to write a great blog that people want to read, you have to really have the time and skill to write something interesting. I have neither.
  • Blogging is a way of keeping in touch with people who are far away. It's a lazy approach to keeping up on what people are doing, I don't have to e-mail or call someone as much if they are blogging, I can simply drop in from time to time and see what's up and post a comment here and there to let them know I was wondering what they were up to. More of my friends should have blogs, it'd make my life easier!
I'm hearing now that the new "What's your e-mail address?", is "What's your blog's address?".

And that said, I'm still not entirely sure that I'm 100% stoked on blogging and am no farther ahead thanks to this conversation.

Fantasy Hockey Tip

Here's a tip for you if you are playing fantasy hockey where you have to pick a week's roster. It's a good idea to find out how many times your player is paying that week, if the system doesn't limit the number of total games you can play at each position in a season, it's a wise choice to pick a player that is playing 4 times over a player playing only twice. For the week of October 19-25, here's how many times each team is playing:

Anaheim 4
Calgary 4
Colorado 4
Los Angeles 4
Minnesota 4
NY Islanders 4
St. Louis 4
Atlanta 3
Boston 3
Carolina 3
Columbus 3
Detroit 3
Edmonton 3
Florida 3
NY Rangers 3
Nashville 3
Ottawa 3
Phoenix 3
Pittsburgh 3
San Jose 3
Toronto 3
Vancouver 3
Buffalo 2
Chicago 2
Dallas 2
Montreal 2
New Jersey 2
Philadelphia 2
Tampa Bay 2
Washington 2
